For the seventh year, an enterprising group of neighborhood friends set up a lemonade stand in Burlington to raise funds for the Patient Care Fund at Smilow Cancer Hospital Yale-New Haven at Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center. After selling hundreds of cups of lemonade and accepting online donations, the Lemonade Gang are well on their way to raising their goal of $3,723 in honor of their grandmother Janice Goyette, who was treated for cancer at the hospital.
To date, the Lemonade Gang has raised more than $14,000 for the fund that assists cancer patients with everyday expenses that are not covered by insurance, such as food and clothing.
