BENEFICIARY
This is Barbara's 18th annual fundraiser for the Karl J. Krapek, Sr. Comprehensive Women's Health Center at Saint Francis Hospital. Proceeds from this event will support the free mammogram program and patient assistance funds managed by the Women’s Center. These funds alleviate financial pressures from patients and their families so that they may focus on their treatments and recoveries.
LAST YEAR
Last year’s annual fundraiser was held on Wednesday, June 5 and raised $20,000 for the Karl J. Krapek, Sr. Comprehensive Women's Health Center.
Thank you to all who supported us and our local community!
EVENT HISTORY
After battling cancer – and winning! – grateful patient Barbara Gordon wanted to give something back to the hospital that saved her life.
In 2008 she hosted her very first fundraiser for the Saint Francis Hospital Cancer Center, raising over $10,000. Since that first event, Barbara and her family have raised nearly $300,000 for the Karl J. Krapek, Sr. Comprehensive Women's Health Center at Saint Francis Hospital. Barbara’s fundraisers have been attended by hundreds of guests, including prominent community members: governors, mayors, state and local representatives, hospital leadership, and more.
Barbara says, “Since my cancer surgery in 2008 I have truly lived a very fulfilling life. Without the expertise of the doctors and the care of the nurses and staff, I would not be celebrating eighteen additional years of life now.”
Barbara’s experience is just one of the many grateful patient stories that exist in our community today, but Barbara’s response is truly gratifying because she wanted to do more than just share her experience… she wanted to also give back.
