Our Spring Appeal was recently mailed to friends of Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center:
Dear Friend:
Last fall, we highlighted the Trauma Department at Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center. We are proud to now provide you with additional information on this lifesaving group. The Trauma Team’s expertise successfully treats a host of devastating injuries each year – a service that can be a comfort to us all, since trauma can touch each of our lives at any moment.
While quality patient care is the main priority of the Team, they also recognize that prevention is crucial to the program’s success. As a result, they lead novel and effective initiatives both, locally and nationally, including:
- Leadership in the Hartford–area Gun Buy–back collaborative for three consecutive years.
- An Injury Prevention Program which has provided thousands of infant car seats and bicycle safety gear and educates nearly 500 young people each year through the “Let’s Not Meet by Accident” program.
- Support of the Connecticut Department of Motor Vehicles’ Annual Teen Safe Driving Video Contest.
- Lectures at numerous Connecticut educational events to teach citizens and healthcare providers about injury prevention.
- Recognition at national conferences, including the American College of Surgeons and the Emergency Nurses Association National Leadership Conference on firearm safety and education efforts.
As you can see, we are blessed to have this exceptional Team at Saint Francis. Annual contributions support multiple services and programs throughout the Hospital.
